I was always very active in high school but wanted to try something new in college while still maintaining a high activity level. We didn't have marching band at my high school, so I decided to try out mostly on a whim. I got in and went to band week, which is consistently the worst part of the season. If you can survive band week, you deserve the payoff that is Michigan football! Now, I love the MMB and my section is amazing. We are all super close even though it's a huge section, and do all sorts of crazy shenanigans together. Last summer, after only knowing these kids for less than a full year, a number of my bone friends came to visit me all the way out in RI! It's amazing how close you can get to people when you spend two hours with them everyday minimum for a whole semester! Even though the time commitment is larger than a lot of other organizations, I am in a sorority, other bands, am co-director of another club, and have time to do schoolwork, exercise, and socialize. It's very manageable and the other students are amazing!
